You will need to select a Homeowners Insurance Company (casualty) as soon as possible after contract acceptance. There's actually a deadline date that we will insert in the preprinted portion of the real estate contract for this to occur, so you need to make sure you are comfortable with the company, agent and pricing, in order to proceed with you contract to purchase, within a short time contract acceptance by the Seller. This is coverage for the structure and your contents. I highly recommend that your call several companies to compare pricing and what their coverage includes. The best pricing is normally with the company you currently have your auto insurance with. Insurance may or may not be necessary if you are purchasing an attached home, condo or townhouse. We would determine if insurance is needed at the time of or shortly after the contract has been accepted. In many instances, it is included in the Homeowners Association Dues.
